Community
Three Hares Community Woodland Project Coordinator
I worked with Three Hares to secure funding and planning permission for the Roundwood Hut at the site near Auchendinny in Midlothian. This involved developing a design to meet the community needs for a shelter and workshop space that was in keeping with the woodland. I then ran the build with the help of over fifty volunteers of all ages from the local community.

Borders Forest Trust Workshops Facilitator

The Junior Rangers are a group of young volunteers who meet at the beautiful BFT Corehead site near Moffat in Dumfriesshire. I came in to run a series of greenwood workshops, taught the rangers safe tool use, and together we created some excellent woodland sculptures.
Health in Mind Secret Garden Build Coordinator
This was a good challenge to build a hut within a limited timescale and budget for the Orchard Centre in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, which is a service for people facing mental health issues. I kept the design simple and worked with a great group of their garden volunteers to build a square framed, Larch-clad hut for their Secret Garden.

Build
Cambrian Wildwood Compost Loo and Roundhouse Build Coordinator
I designed both structures for Cambrian Wildwood to nestle into the surrounding landscape and to suit the needs of this community woodland and habitat restoration project. To help on such a detailed project I recruited a new build team with a wealth of different skills and experiences, including lime plastering and straw bale construction. Together we finished the Compost Loo last year and are just putting the finishing touches - including a reciprocal frame and green roof - to the Roundhouse.

Caban Seren
Lead Carpenter
Steph Robinson set off on a self-build journey just outside Abercegir near Machynlleth and took me on as lead carpenter for the project. This lovely house has a Douglas Fir frame, traditional slate roof, straw bale walls and a beautiful finish with Larch cladding and bespoke tile flooring. This was a wonderful project to be involved in and a huge learning experience for all.

Floyd and Field Wigmore Road Development
Site Carpenter
Under Stephen Floyd’s guidance and design, I joined a small team of carpenters to build foundations and Scandinavian-style ‘stick frames’ for three semi-detached houses in Rainham, Kent. This was quick and efficient framing on a traditional building site to build highly sustainable homes with elegant design features.
